What, a candle powered LED Light?

Candles are making a comeback!

I just ran across a Kickstarter campaign for a light that doesn’t plug into the wall or use any batteries!

This LED light uses a thermo-electric generator to convert heat into electricity. (Kind of the same technology that the BioLite Stove uses to charge your phone) The average candle only puts out a few lumens of light.

However, when you use a candle in addition to the Lumir C – Mood Lamp, it will produce 15 lumens of LED light with the diffuser at the top of the lamp. The Mood Lamp output creates a soft atmosphere around you to ‘delicately’ light up a small room.

For the Lumir C- Spot Lamp, it will produces 60 lumens of LED light in the form of a mini spot light. You are able to adjust it to different directions as needed. The Spot Lamp is perfect for work, completing a project or homework or reading a book.

Because these use a candle and only put out 15 lumens they would be perfect for RVs and travel trailers. However, because they’re lit by candles, we think that there are much safer options to light your tent with.

Check it out and let us know what you think!
